MEET STEVE DEPLATO! - Employee of the Month Your welcoming voice at Welzig Heating and Air!
 | Although Steve's time in the HVAC field has been brief, just since March 16, 2009, he feels he couldn't be in a better place to learn. He feels very strongly when he says: Jimmy and his management team took a chance on me. I have a severe vision impairment which carries with it a number of challenges at work. The team decided to give me the opportunity to show what I could do rather than to focus instantly on what I couldn't. That's a recurring theme around here: How do we get done what needs to get done? | I do have a strong record in the area of customer service. For the fifteen years previous to my invitation to join the Welzig Mechanical family, I was the graveyard shift dispatcher for a towing company in Boulder. I answered plenty of calls from stranded motorists in a wide variety of situations, but they all had one thing in common-their only link between where they were and where they wanted to go on a dark Colorado night had stopped performing. My first priority was to make sure they were as safe as possible. Then I had to be a comforting presence capable of helping them to solve a serious problem that had come out of nowhere. The challenge here is similar: I am usually the first person a customer encounters when he or she calls our company. I want to be the presence that breaks the string of disappointments they've experienced when an air conditioner, furnace, humidifier, or water heater is no longer doing its job. I get a strong sense of satisfaction knowing that when I transfer the customer's call to another member of the team, that team member will have the same goal in mind. I love to forward compliments about my co-workers to Jimmy's voice mail so he can hear them in the customer's own words. I enjoy reading in my off time, recorded books are my link to the literature I have loved since I was a young adult. I am a staff writer for a spiritual website, I love to cook play with cars, and listen to NY Yankees and Colorado Rockies games. I'm been married for twelve years to the most fab woman in Longmont. She's lived here all her life and has taught me to really appreciate what our town has to offer. It pleases me that my employer is one of those good things about our city. Steve truly is the calming, reassuring voice of the Welzig Heating and Air family. He's always here to help. |
